Meet the Founder
Lisa M. Migliaccio-Canna, M.S.Ed.
Founder and Program Developer
Lisa is an experienced special education teacher and developmental inclusion specialist with more than 25 years of experience supporting young children and families.
She holds:
A bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a bachelor’s degree in Special Education
A master’s degree in Special Education, birth - 2nd grade
Permanent New York State certification in Special Education from birth through age 21
Experience as a preschool special education teacher
Experience providing Special Education Itinerant Teacher services
Experience completing preschool special education evaluations
Experience writing and implementing IFSPs and IEPs
Experience supporting children in self-contained, integrated, community, and home-based settings
Training in developmentally appropriate movement, regulation, and yoga practices for children with disabilities
Throughout her career, Lisa has supported children with a wide range of developmental, sensory, physical, communication, learning, medical, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Her experience includes working with children with:

Childhood stroke
Speech and language delays
Apraxia
Feeding and swallowing needs

Lisa created Roots & Wings to provide the kind of inclusive, relationship-centered space she believes every child and caregiver deserves.
Her approach is grounded in the belief that children grow through safety, connection, meaningful play, respectful support, and relationships with adults who truly see them.
